Gregor Mendel studied heredity in cells and other organisms. In one experiment, Mendel cross-pollinated smooth yellow pea plants with wrinkly green peas. Mendel noticed that the peas of green color and wrinkly nature, were completely dominated by the smooth, yellow peas. Mendel had discovered that there are dominant and recessive traits in heredity. The yellow peas were dominant, and were thus labeled the "Parental Generation". The green peas, that ha been dominated, were called the 1st generation, and had identical traits to the yellow peas. His find, was not found to have any value, until the 1900's when a group of scientists grasped its significance.

Gregor mendel's experiments were systematically recorded from a period of seven years (1856-1863). Mendel In one experiment, Mendel pollinated smooth yellow pea plants with wrinkly green peas. As yellow and as round as was, Somehow, yellow completely dominated green and round dominated wrinkly. The yellow peas were called parental generation and the green peas were called first generation.
